A special performance has arrived. On the occasion of celebrating the anniversary of the long-legged dance on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on November 30, we are proud to bring a special spectacle featuring performances by 4 artists and special guests, including Princess Jenna, ABA Bank CEO Mr. Askhat, singer Mr. Thena, and Mr. Duong Sokea. Beyond music, long-legged dance conveys a deep meaning, preserving a unique heritage from one generation to the next forever.

This special performance, we observe, is a rare thing that the CEO of ABA Bank is a foreigner but can perform Khmer long-legged dance so well. Mr. Askhat, CEO of ABA Bank, said: He loves all forms of Khmer art, especially long-legged dance. He is very happy to perform Khmer long-legged dance on the occasion of celebrating the 8th anniversary of the inclusion of long-legged dance on UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

He said that he really likes Khmer chapei because it is a combination of music and poetry. He said that in his country, Kazakhstan, there is also a similar performance, the Dombra instrument, and there are also accompanying songs and melodies. He added that he really likes the sound of the chapei because the chapei musical instrument has a unique sound and feels very refreshing when listening to it.

Mr. Askhat also said that now on the ABA Mobile App, there is also a long-stringed chapei on the screen, “Khmer Heritage”, where the chapei represents the “service” function. He said that it is important to promote Khmer culture through our products. And what is even more amazing, Mr. Askhat even gave the long-stringed chapei to Princess Jenna to sing, and he was very happy with the performance of the chapei.

It is worth noting that the Cambodian long-stringed chapei was included in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on November 30, 2016.

The long-stringed chabei is an ancient Cambodian musical instrument that can be played to accompany songs, as well as to create and compose new songs on your own, telling stories from ancient times or teaching people about virtue and culture.
